Kevin Whelan has been Director of the Keough-Notre Dame Center in Dublin since 1998. Previously, he taught at New York University and Concordia University, and completed fellowships at the Royal Irish Academy and University College Dublin, where he earned his PhD. From 1995 to 1998, Whelan was a historical advisor to the Irish government on the Famine and the Irish Rebellion of 1798. Since 1999, he has also co-directed Notre Dame’s annual Irish Seminar, which has drawn scholars such as Seamus Heaney and Edward Said.
