Mick Moloney is Global Distinguished Professor of Irish Studies and Music at New York University. He holds an M.A. in Economics and Politics from University College Dublin and a Ph.D. in Folklore and Folklife from the University of Pennsylvania. In addition to contributing as both a musician and a producer to over fifty albums of traditional Irish music, Moloney has been involved with major arts projects in the United States, such as the National Endowment for the Arts panels on folk, minority, and community arts and The Green Fields of America. Maloney also continues to serve as an advisor to the Smithsonian Institution. During his tenure as Burns Visiting Scholar, Moloney lectured on nineteenth-century composers Ned Harrigan and Tony Hart and conducted research on the history of Irish traditional music in the United States.
