John F. Deane (Spring 2008)

John F. Deane is an acclaimed poet and fiction author. He is also the founder of Poetry Ireland and the Poetry Ireland Review, which he established in 1978, and the Dedalus Press, where he served as editor from 1985 through 2006. Deane has received numerous honors for his poetry, including the O’Shaughnessy Award for Irish Poetry and membership in the Aosdána, a body of artists the Irish Arts Council has selected as having made "outstanding contributions to the arts in Ireland.”  Most recently, Deane was 2015 Mayo City Council Writer in Residence.
