World Bank

This guide showcases recommended resources for research, teaching and learning in International Studies.

Getting Started

World Bank is an IGO with a vast website partially because it serves two functions.

Reports and Research

Here are some places to start on the World Bank Website.

  • Official World Bank Reports
    • Official Documents and reports from 1946 - present including board documents, strategic priorities, and in-depth background studies.
  • Open Knowledge Repository
    • Official open access repository for research

  • World Development Indicators
    • Internationally comparable statistics about global development. The database contains 1,400 time series indicators for 217 economies and more than 40 country groups, with data for many indicators going back more than 50 years.

Data

World Bank Data has three different access points. Please keep in mind that each dataset is tagged with a "terms of use" which provide details on restrictions. World Bank lists external datasets in their catalog if they deem it relevant to the development issues.

eBrary

In alignment with the World Bank’s initiatives on openness, on June 30, 2024, World Bank Group Publications will be discontinuing the World Bank eLibrary.
