Software in the Library

Software found throughout the libraries

We have a large selection of software for use across hundreds of public computers. The exact software titles vary by location and area, but you can expect to find the following on every computer:

  • Microsoft Office Professional,
  • Browsers: Chrome, Firefox

Additionally, a limited number of loaner laptops have the following applications installed:

  • SPSS (on some Dell laptops)
  • Adobe Creative Cloud

The Digital Studio, located in O'Neill 205, has a large selection of software available. See Software in the Digital Studio for a comprehensive list.

The library also has a number of Adaptive & Assistive Technologies available for use.

Specialized software

The library contains several specialized software titles across a limited number of library computers. Here is a brief list of these titles.

Data Analysis A Geographic Information System (GIS) used for creating and using maps; compiling geographic data; analyzing mapped information; sharing and discovering geographic information; using maps and geography. (Note: Also see the BC Research Software page.)
Bibleworks Theology and Ministry Library Reference Provides Greek, Hebrew, and Septuagint Bibles as well as translations in English, German, Spanish, Chinese, Korean, and other languages. Also included are a variety of Bible search tools, lexicons, dictionaries, and other resources for morphological analysis.
Bloomberg Terminal O'Neill Library 3rd Floor Reference Bloomberg provides current and historical financial information on equities, stock market indices, commodities, fixed-income securities, currencies, and futures for both international and domestic markets. (Note: Access is limited to the BC community.)
JAWS (Job Access With Speech) O'Neill Library 3rd Floor Assistive A screen reader developed for computer users whose vision loss prevents them from seeing screen content or navigating with a mouse. JAWS provides speech and Braille output.

Document Editor ScanPro 3000 microfilm scanner features a 26 megapixel camera, nearly twice the optical resolution of any microfilm scanner. The optical resolution is over 500dpi on a letter page and saved files are both archival-quality and small in size.
