Medieval and Premodern History

:

Travel & Pilgrimage

This is a short guide to Medieval history focusing on scholarly research and digital primary source collections.

Medieval Travel Accounts

While travel has become easier in the last centuries, archeological evidence suggests that people have been on the movie just about as long as there have been people. During the European Medieval period (loosely 500 to 1500) people started writing more about those travels.

This guide provides access points to BC Libraries' travel accounts from the Medieval period (mostly in translation) as well as digital facsimiles of many of those accounts. Names are linked to BC Libraries' Catalog's authorial records. Organized by traveler's professed religious affiliation.
