Use the Library for CHEM3322

Use this guide to start searching key databases to find chemistry articles. Contact the Chemistry Librarian, Nancy Curtis, when you have questions or want to set up a consult.

Goals

Today's class addresses guidelines (PDF) from the ACS Committee on Professional Training. You'll continue to build chemical information skills during your education, and later in the workforce.

After today's class you should be able to

  • Construct a replicable search strategy for the SciFindern database to find references about a particular topic
  • Use SciFindern filters to focus on search results appropriate for your assignment
  • Distinguish between review articles and primary (original) research
  • Find articles citing a particular item published in chemistry literature
