West African Primary Sources

This is a guide to sources available through Boston College on African history.

This page focuses on 19th and 20h century history for the western, Sub-Saharan African continent. According to the United Nations, that includes sixteen states including Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, The Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Ivory Coast, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, the Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone and Togo.
