Adding Library Tutorials to Your Course

:

Embed Videos with Canvas YouTube Tool

Provide library tutorial videos and quizzes for your students via url links or embedding in Canvas.

Embedding Videos in Canvas

Providing students with a video within the Canvas environment (rather than linking out), integrates material more deeply in the course, and signals to more passive students that the content is directly relevant and important.

You can embed a YouTube video directly from any screen editor in Canvas. Click the YouTube tool in the Canvas editing toolbar (shown left, below), and search for "Boston College Libraries," plus a word from the title of the video you'd like, e.g.:

"Boston College Libraries" finding

should return the Finding Items in the Library Catalog video as a top result. (See example below, right.) Click on the Embed drop-down, and select the size of video (small, medium, large) you'd like to embed.
