The Boston College Libraries instruction program supports academics, scholarship, and lifelong learning. We offer instruction on library and research skills at all levels and for all course modalities, including online courses. Our goal is to lead instruction sessions where all learners are able to succeed.
Boston College Libraries provides library support for a variety of classes and programs. Please reach out to us regarding any questions about library support. Our First-Year Writing Instructors (FWS) focused instruction for FWS classes. These sessions provide an introduction to using the library for research, covering the library website, searching strategies for finding sources, databases, and evaluating sources.These sessions are aligned with FWS goals and objectives.
Subject-specific instruction is customized to each class, focusing on that class’s specific need and usually providing an overview of discipline-specific collections and research practices.
The Digital Scholarship Group’s expertise spans a number of methodologies and skills, including data finding, data visualization, text analysis, network analysis, text encoding, GIS/mapping, 3D modeling, and more. We can create custom workshops, classroom instruction, and partner on assignments, student projects, and course design.
Burns Library provides active learning instruction sessions with primary sources, special collections and historical materials for any subject or discipline.
Instruction librarians, digital scholarship specialists, and subject specialists work together to provide support to students enrolled in Enduring Questions and Complex Problems courses. This enables students to have access to librarians in multiple areas to best support their questions and research projects.
