You can set up search alerts or individual journal table of contents alerts in many databases from providers like Proquest, Elsevier and Web of Science. Look for buttons like those above. You will need to set up an account and log-in, but you can leverage your search time to continue receiving relevant articles and tables of contents from your favorite journals.

You subscribe to RSS feeds through an RSS reader (or aggregator). This brings all your content together in one convenient place, where you can check in at any time and see only the freshest headlines; then click on them to get to the full text (as available). Feedly is one popular choice for feed readers.
Once you have your reader, you can visit the sites of your frequently read journals and look for the RSS icon (sometimes it looks like this:

) Right click on it, and copy the URL, then follow your feed reader's instructions to add the feed. Most readers have nice organization features which let you make categories, tag articles to read later, email and share articles.
You can keep up with news and blogs from around the web by setting up a GoogleAlert. You specify the news topic that interests you and the frequency of e-mail updates to receive.
