British Pathe is one of the oldest media companies in the world.Their roots lie in 1890s Paris where their founder, Charles Pathe, pioneered the development of the moving image. They were established in London in 1902, and by 1910 were producing their famous bi-weekly newsreel the Pathe Gazette. After the First World War they started producing various Cinemagazines as well. By 1930 they were producing the Gazette, the Pathetone Weekly, the Pathe Pictorial and Eve's Film Review, covering entertainment, culture and womens' issues.

(Part of the Irish Film Institute) collects, preserves and shares Ireland’s national moving image collection, a diverse resource that chronicles over one hundred years of Irish achievement and experience. Provides some full films out of copyright and a catalog of movies under copyright.

Designed to bring together the research material relating to Irish-made cinema and television as well as to Irish-themed audio-visual representations produced outside of Ireland. It also incorproates historically imporant silent films made in Ireland and provides an insight into the official response to foreign cinema in Ireland. It incorporates three searchable databases: Irish Film & Television Index 1896-2006; Irish Silent Films 1910-15; and Irish Film Censors' reports, 1923-1938.
