Educational Research

This guide focuses on a number of resources useful for research in Education.

Finding Dissertations and Theses

Doctoral dissertations and master's theses are rich information resources. They general provide a comprehensive literature review  and extensive bibliography for the topic, as well as original research. In the past, they have been very difficult to obtain, but many are now readily available through various databases and repositories.

ProQuest Dissertations & Theses: This provides citations and abstracts to more than 2 million dissertations and masters theses in all fields from 1861 to the present. The full text of most dissertations are also available for download. Note: If you are interested in finding Boston College authored dissertations only, type "Boston College" into the search box entitled “University/institution".

eScholarship@BC: eScholarship@BC is the institutional repository of Boston College, managed by the Boston College University Libraries. The aim of eScholarship@BC is to showcase and preserve Boston College's scholarly output in digital form and to make it freely accessible globally. The repository supports the social justice mission of the University and promotes the goals of the University Libraries by providing access to scholarly resources wherever they are needed. Note: if you are specifically looking for dissertations and theses written by graduates of the Lynch School, searching for theses by school in eScholarship is a simple option.
