Harner's Literary Research Guide: An Annotated Listing of Reference Sources in English Literary Studies is a selective, annotated guide to reference sources essential to the study of British literature, literatures of the United States, other literatures in English, and related topics. The link above takes you to the BC Libraries record for the 6th edition, in the reference area on O'Neill Level 3.
Once available freely online, the site that carried it was discontinued in 2017. The site's content (as html and css) is available on a GitHub respository.
Oxford Bibliographies Online is a good starting point for research. The bibliographies provide expert recommendations for and authoritative commentary on the best works available in many disciplinary areas.
