Creating Alerts

Keeping up with newly published information in the field of psychology has never been easier. This is because many databases and journals allow you to set up alerts that will keep you informed of newly published articles.

Dissertations

You can set up alerts in ProQuest Digital Dissertations by following these steps:

  • Go into ProQuest Digital Dissertations.
  • Type in keywords that represesent your topic and click on search.
  • You will see a list of results. At the top of the screen, click on .
  • Select the frequency that you would like to receive alerts.
  • Provide your e-mail address.

PubMed

You can create an account in PubMed that will enable you to receive e-mail alerts about newly published articles.

PsycInfo Alerts

You can set up research alerts in databases such as PsycInfo. You can set up an alert by creating an account with My Research. Look for this option on the upper right-hand corner of the screen. You will be able to save a search in My Research, and you will receive e-mails with lists of new publications that are relevant to that search.

Biosis & Science Citation Index

Biosis and Science Citation Index both have a feature that allows you to save a search and set up a research alert. Look for the the "Saved Searches and Alerts" box on the upper right-hand corner of the screen. You will be able to register for an account, and this will allow you to set up a research alert.
