Requesting Copies: Published Materials

Burns Library uses an online request management system for copy requests.

As you identify what you would like to have scanned from our library catalog, select the blue "Request scans from Burns Library" link.

You will be directed to your Burns Library Account. When prompted to sign-in, use the “login or register” boxes to open or create your account.

If you haven’t created your account yet, use the Boston College Students, Faculty, and Staff portal if you have an active BC username and password, or the Guest Researchers box to create your account with your own username and password.

If you are a new user, or haven’t visited in a while, you will need to review our registration policies and complete the registration form, then you'll return to the copy request form.

If you are currently registered, you will be directed straight to the copy request form.

To complete the request form :

  • Review item information and add details on the specific volume or copy (if needed)

  1. Enter a brief description of your request under "Describe Copy Request".

    • Each request is evaluated on a case-by-case basis and may not be filled due to various considerations. See our website for more information.
  2. Choose the file format.

    • Reference PDF (1 week)

    • Reference JPG (1 week)

  3. Leave more details or any notes on your request in the optional Special Requests/Questions field. (optional)

  4. Press "Accept Terms and Submit Request"

When the request is completed, you'll receive an email prompting you to log into your Burns Library account and download the scans within 30 days.
