Requesting Copies: Archival Materials

Burns Library uses an online request management system for  copy requests.  As you identify what collections you would like to have scanned from Search Burns Archives, click the "+ Add to My Request List" button to request material.

When you are ready to place your order, go to the My Request List link in the Search Burns Archives mega menu.

To complete the request form for a copy request

  • Select Copy under Request Type

  • Choose the file format.

    • Reference PDF (1 week)

    • Reference JPG (1 week)

  • Enter a brief description of your request under "Describe Copy Request".

    • Each request is evaluated on a case-by-case basis and may not be filled due to various considerations. See our website for more information.
  • Select the Submit Requests button on the lower right

Copy requests are then moved to your Burns Library Account. When prompted to sign-in, use the “login or register” boxes to open or create your account.

If you haven’t created your account yet, use the Boston College Students, Faculty, and Staff portal (if you have an active BC username and password), or the Guest Researchers box to create your account with your own username and password.

If you are a new user, or haven’t visited in a while, you will need to review our registration policies and complete the registration form, then you'll be directed to your Current Requests list, where you should see your Order Status.

If you are currently registered, you will be directed straight to your Current Requests Page, where you should see your Order Status.

You can also use the Actions tab to cancel a request.

When your order is completed, you'll receive an email prompting you to log into your Burns Library Account and download the scans within 30 days.
