BC Libraries Services Update - COVID-19

General Information

This guide provides information on the Libraries operations and services at this time.  You will find links to the many online resources and services on the left. Continue to check the Library Website for the latest updates.

  • Tell Us Your Story: BC Archives invites all members of the BC community to contribute their stories documenting life in a time of pandemic. Help us preserve your unique records of the COVID-19 experience for future use in research and teaching.
  • Online access to many BC print books through HathiTrust Emergency Access
  • All BC libraries are CLOSED. McElroy remains open for study space and printing.
  • Loan periods for most materials have been extended to Sept. 1, 2020. See Renewing & Returning Material.
  • Boston College: Coronavirus Updates

Faculty Information

  • Faculty may request that we scan material and stream video for Course Reserves.  Whenever possible, faculty should use alternative online resources rather than requesting a scan or stream of physical library materials. At this point we are prioritizing course support and are not prioritizing scans of print materials that support professional research.
  • Many publishers are providing enhanced online access to books and articles. Faculty should contact the publisher and ask if this is available.  Contact your Subject Librarian if you need assistance.
  • See our guide for Online Instructors.
  • If you have additional questions about services or access to materials that are not addressed in this update, please contact your Subject Librarian for assistance.
  • The Center for Teaching Excellence offers assistance with teaching online: Covid-19 Preparations.
