Library Acquisitions in History from June through September 2019

by Brittany Lehman, Ph.D. on 2019-09-18T16:25:04-04:00 in History | Comments
This is the first of monthly e-mails about Library News and Acquisitions for History. Note that I will cross-post on the history LibGuide for History Faculty (https://libguides.bc.edu/historyfaculty).

News:
1) The Library will be hosting an RIS session in the Spring Semester specifically about information organization for humanities students. We'll be covering information about how to approach archives and organization the information found therein. I encourage you to send your graduate students as they'll fill their requirements with relevant information.

2) I'll be sending out a form next week about your research interests and needs in part to write the library collection development policy for history. Make sure to fill it out so that I can accurately reflect department interests!

Acquisitions:
Monographs: The many Excel sheets attached in the list-serv e-mail were the monograph acquisition lists from June (before I started) to September 15. Note that I've divided the list by geographic and some topical subjects (see first word of file name). There is overlap between the lists if the topic covered multiple geographic spaces. Please let me know if you have questions about how I divided the lists or would like me to add a focus.

Note that based on current faculty discussions to date, I will be shifting my purchasing balance slightly away from North America and Britain to pull in more from global, Asia, MENA, and Latin American focuses. There has been particularly strong requests for material on global migration and borders. I'll finalize the current policy after I run the aforementioned poll. That said, we'll continue shifting over the years to reflect growing/changing faculty and student interests. And, of course, you can also make specific requests.

Electronic Resources: I wanted to let you all know that we now have access to
On that note, let us know if you would like us to keep (we're running a trial)
Finally, I want to thank you all for being so welcoming over the past month. I greatly appreciate it.

Let me know if you have any questions or concerns!
