HIST HIST2845-01: Women in U.S. Medicine

:

Bibliographies and Citations

Course guide for Prof. Tonn's course on Women in US Medicine for Fall 2019.

Approaching Bibliographies and Citations

For this class, you will be delving into your own research project. For that project, you are required to include appropriately formatted footnotes and bibliography following the Chicago Manual of Style. History is a science as well as an art, which means that historians use evidence to make their claims. Bibliographic records (in footnotes and in a bibliography) provide the record of your sources for other researchers to examine and track how you reached your conclusions. The purpose of following a set standard is to facilitate communication and set markers on that trail.

Citation Style

Many historians use Chicago as their preferred bibliographic standard on account of its flexibility.
