Town Histories in the Library

Research sources and tips for the hometown history assignment in Mariette Landry's FWS classes.

Search Holmes for Town Histories

The Boston College Libraries have a large collection of town histories, primarily for communities in Massachusetts and other New England States, but for some others as well. To search for a history of your hometown, enter it in the search box below and hit Go.

NOTE: It's not necessary to enter the state name, but if you do—especially if your town's name is a common one—use the special state abbreviations at right and put the town and state abbreviation in quotation marks (e.g. "Trenton N.J."; "Plymouth, Minn"; "Oakland, Calif".)
