The Social Work Library works with the faculty of BCSSW to facilitate the use of Canvas, both in terms of managing course reserves and also answering day-to-day questions about operating and managing course sites.
The library also has technology available for loan, including laptops and Mac adapters for classroom projectors.
Canvas is the learning management system (LMS) used at BC.
Courses are usually uploaded to Canvas for you to start working on them a month or two before the semester begins. To ensure access to and smooth operation in Canvas, please ensure that your BC username and email is set up well in advance as these are necessary to login to Canvas and work on your course.
Canvas is a great space for keeping in contact with students via messaging or discussion boards, for creating and submitting assignments, and for sharing resources. Within your Canvas course, the library also provides links to required readings on course reserve. Though it may seem daunting at first, investing some time into your Canvas site can be valuable to you and your students.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact Shannon Fiske, the Canvas coordinator available at the Social Work Library at firstname.lastname@example.org or 617-552-0109. The Center for Teaching Excellence (CTE) is also available to support faculty with Canvas, see more information here. The CTE also provides in-depth Canvas Instructor Documentation here.
