Format decisions are guided by the General Collection Development Policy. Exceptions may be determined by preferences of requesters and curricular needs.
For journals, perpetual access in electronic format is highly preferred. Print is highly preferred for books and monographs, except when an e-book version is specifically requested.
The majority of material collected is in English, sometimes in dialect such as Scots or Carribean. Texts frequently feature a combination of languages when they are part of a comparative study or have Classical influences.
As a general rule, material added to the collections is recently published, i. e., within the past two years. Older publications are added upon faculty or student request.
