Physical Items Pickup Services

:

Welcome

This service has been discontinued.

Boston College Libraries will be reopening most buildings on Monday, August 17th. As a result, patrons are now able to submit material requests via the library catalog, for pickup at library service desks. This page explains how to submit a request.

If you have submitted requests and have yet to collect them, they will be available at the O'Neill Level One entrance until Sunday at Noon. After which, library staff will process the materials so that they are available for pickup at the O'Neill Circulation Desk on Monday.

Physical Item Pickup Request Form

This form should be used by BC faculty, staff, and students to request physical items for pickup during the Covid-19 emergency. Titles available online are not available for pick-up. If you require an article or chapter scan, please submit your request via InterLibrary Loan. Physical items requested through interlibrary loan can also be requested for pick up on the ILL request form.

  • You can request materials from our circulating collections. Non-circulating items, lending technology, course reserves, or items located in the off-campus storage facility, cannot be requested.
  • When filling out the form, please include as much information as possible about the item(s), (e.g. Title, Author, Call Number, etc.)
  • We will confirm availability and retrieve the requested item(s) from the stacks following social distancing guidelines. Items are retrieved from Monday through Friday.
  • Once the item(s) is available for pickup, an email will be sent to you and the item will be checked out to you, without requiring your presence.
  • The item(s) will then be put into a new plastic library bag with your name attached.
  • The bag containing the item(s) will be placed in the foyer outside the O'Neill Library 1st floor entrance.
  • Please allow 48 hours for staff to retrieve and process your request.
  • Items can be picked up Sunday through Friday, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
  • Your item(s) will be available for pickup for 48 hours. Items that are not picked up within 48 hours will be returned to the collections.
  • Please note that the item(s) you request will be checked out to you, and will thus be your responsibility.
  • Items can be returned at the book drop located on the O’Neill Library’s 1st floor, or at the book drop just outside the main entrance of the Theology and Ministry Library.
