Editing your Journals Website Page on OJS

:

Getting Started

This guide will walk you through the process of making your journal's home page welcoming and accessible. The guide includes tips around adding a logo and adding an image to the sidebar of your journal's website.

Editing your Website on the Ejournals Page

OJS provides a standard, user friendly home-screen that serves as a good home base for your readers.  The below example is from a discontinued journal, and shows the typical layout of a journal's home screen.

eJournal Sample Homepage

Please note the following features in the above screen:

  1. The name of the current issue [Vol 10 No 5 (2010)].
  2. A clickable link to the abstract (the title link listed under "Articles") as well as the Galley, shown above as the PDF Label.
  3. The sidebar, which hosts different "boxes" seen above, like the Information and Hosted By boxes.

Managing the different elements on this screen are key to giving the users on your site a positive experience.  To edit these boxes, and ultimately add an image, click on your username in the top right corner, and then select Dashboard.

Homepage Navigation to Dashboard

As you may know, the Dashboard is where you can go to make changes to your journal.  Once you are in your dashboard, click on Settings and then Website.

Navigation to Website Settings screen

Now you will be looking at the Website Settings Screen - this screen is where you will go for any adjustments to your Ejournal website.  Whether it is your color scheme, sidebar, menu-options - everything related to the reader's experience on your home screen can be altered in the Website Settings section.
