Part of the Reference Shelf series, this book gives a general overview of various aspects of U.S. elections, such as a history of voting, the electoral college, third party candidates, and campaign finance and fundraising.

U.S. Presidential Candidates and the Elections: a Biographical and Historical Guide (O'Neill Library Stacks JK528 .H38 1996)
Split into two parts it includes an alphabetically arranged biographical directory providing information on those who sought to become president and vice president. Also contains a detailed summary of each presidential election including information on the parties and their platforms, conventions, and primary and election results.
