  • McBrien, Richard. Catholicism.  
    O’Neill Stacks BX1751.2 .M24 1994. This thorough revision of McBrien's best-selling summary of Roman Catholic theology, history, and moral values is an important statement of what it means to be a Catholic Christian.
  • Hellwig, Monika. Understanding Catholicism.  
    O'Neill Stacks BX1751.3 .H45 2002. A revision of Hellwig's 1981 book, it offers an excellent introduction to the chief doctrines of the Church.
  • O'Collins, Gerald and Farrugia, Mario. Catholicism: The Story of Catholic Christianity.  
    O'Neill Stacks BX1752 .O26 2003. This introduction provides a history, a summary of the chief doctrines, and a discussion of current challenges.
  • What Are They Saying about . . .  
    These are the first five words of the title of a series of books, each devoted to a single topic, and many by noted theologians and biblical scholars. To identify and locate specific titles, do a Titles search in Quest for "What Are They Saying about."
  • Blackwell Reference Online (BC Community Only)  
    This resource offers titles in the humanities and social sciences. Examples in theology and religion are The Blackwell Companion to Catholicism, The Blackwell Companion the Christian Ethics, and The Blackwell Encyclopedia of Modern Christian Thought.
  • Cambridge Collections Online (BC Community Only)  
    Cambridge Collections Online offers introductory "companions" in the humanities including theology. Examples in theology are The Cambridge Companion to Augustine, The Cambridge Companion to Christian Doctrine, and The Cambridge Companion to Aquinas.
