New Library Newsletter Now Available

Find link on the Library homepage or at http://www.bc.edu/libraries/newsletter/.  The new University Librarian, Tom Wall, introduces himself, offers his first impressions, outlines his strategy for hearing about user needs, and summarizes his philosophy in leading the Libraries.

Try out SciFinder on the Web

If you haven’t tried out this new version of SciFinder, maybe it’s time.  You’ll find access at the same Boston College Libraries’ web site (navigate from www.bc.edu/libraries >> Databases >> Type in “SciFinder” (you’ll be asked for your Agora information).  You will need to register for a personal account, then will need to use that for access in the future.  A big advantage of the personal account is that you will be able to set up SciFinder weekly alerts on the topics you’re following (“Keep Me Posted”).  All future upgrades to SciFinder will take place on the web platform, not on the client.

Major New Database for Biological Chemistry

Current Protocols for Molecular Biology, an important reference tool from Wiley for biological chemistry, is now available online through the Boston College Libraries.  Find it listed in Quest, or link to it at: http://www.currentprotocols.com/molecular-biology

Conference Proceedings Citation Index now included in Web of Science
Using the Web of Science platform, you can now find both journal articles and conference literature.  Conference literature dating from 2004 to the present has been added through a new Boston College Libraries subscription to Conference Proceedings Citation Index.

Library Office Hours in Merkert now run 10 - 11am every Thursday morning (instead of 10:30 - 11:30 as in the past).

Nature is now available at Boston College from 1950 on.

Nature Chemistry, the newest journal from Nature Publishing Group, is now available at Boston College.
