Introducing and Exploring the Catalog

The Catalog is the gateway to print and electronic resources within the BC Libraries and beyond. It provides cross-disciplinary searching of hundreds of millions of online and locally-available resources including print books, e-books, journal articles, and digital collections

Let's consider some of Catalog's features:

  • Searching for Books -- Approximately 2.5 million titles comprise the BC Libraries' book collection. Finding the title(s) you need is a direct result of effective searching.

New to the Catalog?  To get acquainted, you might first try a simple book search here by entering keyword(s) in a particular subject area.

Feeling adventurous?  You could also go directly to the Catalog Simple or Advanced search screens to access further searching options.

  • Searching for Journals -- To search for a particular journal, go Advanced Search, enter the title of the journal in quotation marks, and select "Journals/Serials from the Material Type drop-down menu. Note that it is a search for journals rather than a search for journal articles. Use of this option is appropriate if you already have a citation for an article and want to know if the we own, or license access to the content of the journal in which the article appears.

Your Library Account, (BC sign-in), allows you to track and renew items checked out from the BC Libraries, and save catalog items to a list of favorites, among other library services.
